Putting On The Moss

Thinking of adding a garden statue or some landscape rocks? If you want them to look like they've been there for years, try putting on the moss!

Most mosses thrive in moist shady areas. Many can survive a period of drought and quickly rejuvenate once moisture is available. They grow slowly and live a long time.

There are lots of recipes for growing moss. Here's just one:
  • Put a clump of moss from some nearby woods into your blender.
  • Add a couple cups of water and a couple cups of buttermilk.
  • Blend a a low speed until it looks like a milk shake.
  • Paint the mixture onto your statue, rocks, or pour it on the ground.

Within a few weeks, Voila! The look of aged and well established.
