Most mosses thrive in moist shady areas. Many can survive a period of drought and quickly rejuvenate once moisture is available. They grow slowly and live a long time.
There are lots of recipes for growing moss. Here's just one:
- Put a clump of moss from some nearby woods into your blender.
- Add a couple cups of water and a couple cups of buttermilk.
- Blend a a low speed until it looks like a milk shake.
- Paint the mixture onto your statue, rocks, or pour it on the ground.
Within a few weeks, Voila! The look of aged and well established.
